For a starting latte, whisk 2 g plain matcha with 60 ml warm water, then add 180 ml milk. Adjust to your product label and taste.
Build the concentrate
Sift first. Add water gradually and whisk until evenly dispersed. Adding dry powder directly to a full glass of milk makes clumps harder to break up.
Hot or iced
Warm milk gently for a hot drink. For an iced drink, cool the tea concentrate slightly before combining with ice and cold milk. Never shake hot liquid in a closed container.
Turn a starting ratio into your own recipe
Our plain-matcha starting recipe uses 2 g powder, 60 ml warm water and 180 ml milk. Treat that as an editorial starting point and follow the instructions for the product you use. If you change the tea or blend, make a small trial before assuming that the same powder amount gives the same finished drink.
Record the milk, final liquid and mixing tool as well as the powder. If you prefer a lighter cup, add a little liquid and note the change. If you want a stronger tea direction, adjust the powder in a fresh concentrate rather than adding dry powder directly to a finished latte.
A milk choice is part of the complete drink
Milk and milk alternatives affect flavour, texture and the ingredient information a drink needs. An unsweetened product can be useful when learning what the tea preparation contributes, but read the actual label rather than assuming that every alternative has the same composition.
If you are serving someone else, keep the milk declaration and any syrup or topping information with the recipe. A tea-only ingredient list cannot answer an allergen question about the complete latte. If a milk changes, review both preparation and customer information.
Hot and iced service need separate notes
An iced drink has a changing dilution as ice melts. Include the ice and cold-liquid quantities in the recipe you record. Prepare a smooth concentrate before combining it with the final cold serving. Do not shake hot liquid in a closed container.
For a warm latte, keep the concentrate and milk steps clear so that the tea does not sit forgotten while the rest of the recipe is prepared. A team recipe should specify the vessel, tool and sequence. Those details make a consistent drink easier to repeat than an instruction that only says add milk.
